THE STATE'S ATTORNEY'S OFFICE

The State's Attorney has the responsibility to prosecute violations of state criminal laws and county ordinances that occur in Ogle County as well as to enforce many state and county regulations. Included in these prosecutions are felony, misdemeanor and traffic offenses. The State's Attorney also serves as the lawyer for Ogle County in civil matters.

The position held by the State's Attorney is a full-time elected Office. The State's Attorney is authorized to hire professional staff consisting of Assistant State's Attorneys and Administrative Support Staff. The State's Attorney's Office is located in the Ogle County Judicial Center and the members of the Office represent the People of Ogle County in several courtrooms daily appearing at criminal and civil court proceedings. Attorneys are also on-call 24 hours a day, seven days a week to provide law enforcement agencies throughout the County with legal assistance in authorizing criminal charges.
