Engineering Technician (Job Description) The Ogle County Highway Department is looking for a full-time Engineering Technician. Responsibilities: Collaborate with engineering staff to assist in the planning, design, and analysis of county highway projects. Assist in the preparation of engineering drawings, plans, and specifications for construction and maintenance projects. Utilize computer-aided design (CAD) software and other technical tools to create accurate and detailed drawings. Provide support during construction projects, including monitoring progress, verifying compliance with plans, and addressing any issues that may arise. Collaborate with other departments, agencies, and stakeholders to ensure effective communication and coordination.
Desired Qualifications: Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology or related field. Bachelor's degree is a plus. Proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software and technical tools. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Familiarity with transportation engineering principles and practices. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and navigate construction sites. Valid driver's license.

Seasonal Employment Opportunities: Roadside Mowing The Ogle County Highway Department is looking for seasonal employees to be a part of our summer mowing crews. Job details:
- Job Title: Seasonal Roadside Mower
- Position Location: Highway Department in Oregon, Illinois
- Shift: 7:00 A.M. to 3:30 P.M., Monday thru Friday
- Position Status: Hourly, non-exempt
- Starting Wage: $14.00 per hour
- Length of Employment: Seasonal (May thru August)
- Minimum Education: Less than High School
- Minimum Experience: Must be at least 18 years of age
- Required Certification: Legally licensed driver
Position Summary: The majority of the work will consist of mowing roadsides with large tractor-pulled mowing equipment. Other activities include performing maintenance and repairs on this mowing equipment and assisting full-time employees with traffic control operations. Opportunities for advancement and pay increases exist for returning employees. Applicants must be 18 years of age by hire date, possess a valid driver's license and be able to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. Experience with tractor operation is a plus.
