Below are some of the services we provide:
Food Sanitation Program - Ogle County Health Department staff provide inspection of food service facilities to promote food sanitation and consumer protection. We issue permits for food service operations and retail food stores. In addition, we conduct regular inspections and complaints are investigated by department staff.

Safe Drinking Water - Ogle County Health Department provides safe well water supplies and groundwater protection. OCHD staff are available to provide construction permits required for new wells, assist well owners with water quality and well testing questions, and conduct inspections for non-community type wells serving non-resident water users.
Private Sewage Program - The Ogle County Health Department permits new septic system installations and repairs in accordance with the Ogle County Sewage Disposal, Private Systems and IDPH Administrative Code PART 905 PRIVATE SEWAGE DISPOSAL CODE and PART 906 PRIVATE SEWAGE MOUND CODE. IDPH licenses the private sewage installers, private sewage pumpers, portable sanitation businesses and portable sanitation technicians. Ogle County licenses private sewage installers, private sewage pumpers, private sewage pumper trucks and aeration service providers. Any contractor licensed with IDPH can be licensed with Ogle County. After permit approval, OCHD will complete an onsite inspection before the system gets covered up. Septic tanks should be pumped every 3-5 years depending upon the usage. If you’re septic system fails or is backing up, please contact a licensed septic installer. They will be able to best assist you with your specific situation.
Real Estate Inspections - Well and Septic Evaluations for the purpose of a real-estate transaction are not required by the Ogle County Health Department but may be required by lending agencies or in real-estate contracts. It is a good idea to have one done for liability purposes and to prevent unexpected expenses related to well and septic repairs. To apply for an inspection, please download the application that pertains to you (homeowner or realtor) and the Sanitary Evaluation Policy. Please complete the application and review the policy. There are requirements for preparation in the policy. When the application is complete, you may email to awhaley@oglecountyil.gov fax, mail, or bring the form to the Ogle County Health Department. We do require the application, before we can call to set up the appointment. Once the application is received, the inspector will call the person who will be meeting the inspector on site to set up a day and time for the appointment.

Whether you are renting or own your own home, a healthy home environment is important for everyone. A health home is where an individual or family can feel safe and protected, free from hazards.
Body Art - The Tattoo and Body Piercing Establishment Registration Act, (410 ILCS 54), became effective July 1, 2007. The Illinois Department of Public Health's Body Art Code (77 Ill. Adm. Code 797) became effective December 26, 2008. This Code specifies the standard for the conduct of body art procedures, sets standards for the process by which the Department and its delegate agencies inspect and register body art establishments and sets the fee requirements. All establishments providing body art services such as tattooing, piercing, branding or scarification are required to be registered with the Department. Upon receipt of a completed registration application, an inspection is conducted to monitor compliance with the program. Renewal inspections are conducted periodically.
Tanning - The Illinois Department of Public Health permits the facility. Ogle County Health Department may contract with the Illinois Department of Health to conduct the initial, routine and follow-up inspections in their jurisdiction. Facilities are inspected annually to determine compliance with various provisions including: equipment labeling and general operation, verification of appropriate ultraviolet lamps, accurate equipment timers, clients' use of protective eyewear, trained operators on duty, recordkeeping of clients', visits, and sanitation.
Vector - Ogle County Health Department staff provides education and information on prevention of vector borne illness. We also conduct site investigations and testing of dead birds if appropriate. In addition, we monitor and test mosquito traps throughout Ogle County.
