Electronics Recycling Information

Ogle County Solid Waste Management Department will hold an electronics collection events at:                    909 Pines Road, Oregon.  

Please note, the collection days may not necessarily be on the last Friday of the month..

February 28th
March 27th
April 24th
May 16th - Saturday
May 29th
June 26th
July 31st
August 28th
October 17th - Saturday
September 25th
October 30th
November 20th
No December collection event in 2020

Friday hours are 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Saturday hours from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Items accepted are as follows: adding machines, answering machines, cameras, camcorders, CD’s/ DVD’s, CD players, CD Rom drives, calculators, cellphones,CFL’s, computer cables, desktop computers, laptops, monitors, copy machines, digital clocks,  disk players, DVD players, electric typewriters, electronic mice, fax machines, floppy disk drives, ink cartridges, joysticks, keyboards, microwaves, modems, MP3 players, pagers, PDA’s, printers, projectors, radios, rechargeable batteries, remote controls, scanners, servers, shredders, stereo equipment (No wooden speakers), tape drives, telephones, televisions, toner cartridges, VCR’s, video cassette players, video game consoles, zip drives.

A $5.00 fee will be charged for each microwave oven brought in for recycling.  Cash or checks made payable to the Ogle County Solid Waste Management Department (OCSWMD).

For this program to be successful, please follow these instructions:

  • Do not leave items outside of the building. The area is under surveillance and violators will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

  • Bring electronics only at specified dates and times.

  • Only residential electronics from Ogle County residents will be accepted.  No business electronics allowed.  Businesses may contact OCSWMD at 815 732-4020 for other options.

  • Limit of seven (7) large or bulky items per vehicle.

  • Large volumes of dismantled or demanufactured electronics will not be accepted, per discretion of OCSWMD staff.

  • Remove any personal information on your hard drive to protect your privacy.

The OCSWMD recommends residents clean or “wipe” the hard drive in computers and other memory devices being recycled to protect privacy and data.  See link “Donating Computers and Protecting Your Privacy” below.  It is the duty of the user of the recycling program to ensure data erasure.  Ogle County Solid Waste Management Department and Dynamic Recycling will be working together in recycling electronics.  Dynamic Recycling is recognized by the Illinois EPA as an authorized collector, recycler, and re-furbisher of electronic waste in Illinois and is R2 and ISO 14001 certified.

Donating and Recycling Computers:
